Lance Hoppen, Mike Malfesi (engineer – road manager) and I drove up to Portsmouth, OH to meet with the rest of the band (who flew in from NY and FL).
This was a weird show: set on the banks of the river, with a county fair going on in full swing. We were actually on the “wrong” side of the flood wall that was built in the 1920’s after a huge flood ! I mused that it looked like Trump’s proposed Mexican Wall.
Great show though. Next day, we drove back through some of the most scary looking back roads! Tobacco field, drying barns and pick-ups on bricks outside shacks!
I hear the sound of banjo music! Paddle faster!
