Charlie was born in Hammersmith, London on August 9, 1955. He was educated at Chiswick & Bedford Park Preparatory and Latymer Upper Schools, West London. His musical training includes 2 years of piano whilst still at school. He is mainly self-taught in drums, apart from a handful of lessons from legendary percussionist, James Blades.
