SESSION DRUMMER

CHARLIE MORGAN

With 5 decades as a session drummer, much of it at the very top, Charlie’s resumé reads like a Who’s Who of the Music Industry.

Turning “Pro” in the early 1970’s Charlie soon got into the session scene in the UK, and very quickly became one of the busiest session drummers in Europe, working with such diverse artists as Kate Bush, Tina Turner, Gary Moore & Wham! After being called in to be Elton John‘s drummer at Live Aid in 1985, he became Elton’s regular drummer (a post he would hold for the next 13 years), both recording & touring with him.

Charlie has lived in the USA for the past 27 years, recording for clients all over the world, including Barry Manilow, Mexican superstars Manuel Mijares & Uri and Young Latin Grammy nominee Alexander Acha. Other credits include touring with Classic Rock band Orleans, The Guess Who, Richard Marx, Trisha Yearwood, Glen Campbell & Henry Mancini, and playing shows with: Tammy Wynette, Don Henley, Clint Black, The Moody Blues, Julie Andrews, Olivia Newton John, Lisa Stansfield, Chaka Khan, Taylor Dayne, Bruce Hornsby, and Lionel Ritchie.

Hiring Charlie as a Session Drummer

How Does It Work?

01

Send Files

You send Charlie a file of your song (normally in the form of a WAV format stem). Tempo information is useful, but not essential. Also a copy of the original drum loop or programmed sequence is also useful (especially if you want Charlie to stay close to the original feel).

02

Drumming

Charlie uploads the file into his DAW, and starts overdubbing the drums to the stem.

03

Export Files

Charlie exports 3 takes and uploads them to you (using DropBox, WeTransfer or any file transfer system you care to use).

04

Extras

If you ask Charlie to create a stereo “drum mix” he will upload that instead of the individual tracks. (extra cost)
