Me at the kit during soundcheck for the Rio concert, which was the last gig on the 1995 tour. We played to a crowd of around 40,000 local lunatics, and the concert was televised simultaneously across S. America and much of Asia. During the concert the statue of Jesus, high on the hill above the stadium kept appearing and disappearing into the clouds…

During the coup in Chile, 20,000 people were tortured and killed in this stadium (their bodies were laid out in the middle of the pitch – see the movie: “Missing”). Happily things are very much more stable now, and the gig was enjoyed by all. Chile reminded me of Southern California

What a backdrop! The stage was backing onto the Town Hall, and we faced the Opera House, opposite. The gig was one of those magic occasions that cannot be manufactured.

The view from behind my kit, with the Opera House in the background. Greg Penny (producer of Made In England) turned up for this gig, and spent a large part of the concert behind my kit, with a huge smile on his face. We had a really good time.

While we were in Northern Italy several of us took a train to Venice and had dinner! Left to right… Thierry (tour accountant), myslf, Paula Atzmiller (our band coordinator)

John Jorgenson and Lynette Lammers (our promotions manager) in yet another airport departure lounge. I can’t even remember WHERE! I think it’s LA.

Elton messing around with a plastic spider that I found on my kit one night during a gig. Pete was the culprit!
