September 9th – Minneapolis, John Jorgenson Gypsy Jazz

Sheesh, that was a crazy day! It started this morning, when I left my home in Nashville at 5am (car packed with drums), and drove to Indianapolis airport. I was met there by the promoter for our JJ show on Friday (who lives about 50 miles away). After dropping me at the terminal, he returned to his home in my car, while I flew to Minneapolis to meet up with JJ and the rest of the band (the reason for all this will become clear in a day or two). Once we’d managed to shoe-horn all our stuff into the back of a Dodge Grand Caravan, we headed into town for our first appointment – sound check at the Dakota Jazz Club. After eating a quick bite, we packed the van and headed off to a theatre in nearby St. Paul, to soundcheck for a showcase! Then it was a mad dash back across the river – into Minneapolis, to set up again and play our show at the Dakota. Straight after the gig, we packed it all into the van again, and dashed back across town to St.Paul, where we (once again) set up and played our showcase (to a convention of agents). Finally, exhausted, we made it to the hotel (2 blocks from the Dakota, so another mad dash back across the Twin Cities)…. I flopped into bed at 2am
