Las Vegas

First, I must start this update with an apology. I have been very lax in writing my reports, I know. Things have been rather hectic. But that is no excuse!

This week has been particularly crazy, starting with Margaritaville on Sunday and Monday nights. I returned at 3am, packed my bags, had a shower and left for the airport at 4.30am, to fly to Las Vegas. We arrived at 2pm in Vegas (after 8 hours of travel), went to our hotel (the Barbary Coast), before trudging (laden down with equipment) across to the gig, at the Paris Hotel, in 115 degree heat! So, after no sleep, 8 hours of travel and a 15 minute walk in searing heat, followed by a 10 minute walk in freezing air-conditioning, I eventually found myself at our venue for the evening. We were playing for the 20th anniversary of the Hooters chain – I hesitate to say ‘restaurant’, because they really do not fill my criteria for a restaurant: that is, providing good food. But I must admit to enjoying the scenery whenever I go, and the gig was no exception. In fact, the top 100 finalists in the “Miss Hooters 2003″ competition were parading in front of us before the gig, which was very pleasing to the eye! Sound check was a bit disorganised, and as a result, the gig was chaotic, to say the least, but they enjoyed it, and we did get through without any disasters. All that was left for me was to walk BACk to the hotel, and sleep for a scant 4 hours, before repeating the travel exercise of yesterday, but this time in reverse. Of course, flying EAST, you always lose most of the day, no matter how early you leave. So I finally got home at 7pm, exhausted.
