I slept for about 4 hours, waking to the noise of the kid next door playing in their courtyard. It is hard to describe the feeling of disorientation when you awake from a deep dream state, in the middle of the day, after a night of sleep deprivation. It took a good hour before I could really piece together a full sentence. Until then, I answered all questions with grunts and nods. The load in was in the pouring rain (of course), up a couple of flights of metal (thus slippery) stairs…. but we did have a couple of people helping us with the heavy stuff, which more than made up for the inconvenience. Seamus, the local promoter is tireless in his efforts to make us feel at home and comfortable. Apparently has already sold enough tickets to make back his outlay, so every ticket sold tonight will be an added bonus. It shows what good promotion will do!

Despite miserable weather, we played to a full house! The theatre is

actually part of a complex, and where we played was using the stage of the original theatre, with tables & chairs laid out in ‘night club’ fashion. This added to the ambiance. One thing I noticed was the huge variety of people who came to see us…. a surprising number of young people, as well as the guitar fans we see at most of the shows, plus a few older people. But it seems they were all here to appreciate what John had to offer, and he rose to the occasion. I think this ranks up with Sevenoaks in terms of crowd and appreciation. After the show, though, I really hit a wall, and my energy level dropped suddenly. Too little sleep, and too much travel and drumming. I went straight back to the hotel after load out, while JJ, Scott and Alan stayed a while.
