We all got up early…. and left the “hotel” as early as possible. By 9am, we were sitting in a Little Chef on the main road out of town, waiting for breakfast. We are following Alan in his Volvo wagon, back to Glasgow, so he can drop it off, then we are all in the same van – back on the road! After breakfast, we set off across country (no Motorways between here and Glasgow). We skirted Hadrian’s Wall for much of the way. In fact, we stopped off at a quaint little town called Halt Whistle for a coffee (Alan’s recommendation), where we enjoyed some strong caffeinated beverages, and then I bought a “Bob the Builder” doll from the local Post Office (It was
standing as the centre piece of the shop window, and the lady kindly took him out for me).
We dropped off at Alan’s house, had a “wee bite” to eat, and headed on our way. You would not believe the small size of the Bein Inn (pronounced Bean Inn). The concert “hall” holds 60 at a pinch, and every seat is sold tonight. This place is the complete antithesis of last night. The accomodation was great… the staff welcoming, the food fabulous, and the gig was sublime. We played virtually unplugged… only vocal mics, and a DI for the acoustic guitar. I had a great gig…. just like being back in the pubs!!
I went to bed, happy and full.
