Arrived in the UK…

Posted by Charlie in 2001 John Jorgenson & Friends UK Tour

Gatwick, lovely Gatwick! Actually, I like Gatwick – it’s just too far from anywhere useful to be thought of fondly…. having said that, it IS a good airport. John was outside with the van when I came through. My flight had arrived late, having encountered delays from Charlotte, so JJ had been waiting for awhile. The van is of the 16-seat (with windows) variety. We’ll have to do some “customizing”.

It being a Sunday, the drive to my parents’ place took less than an hour. My brother, Nick, was waiting to administer coffee and breakfast (much needed). Then we set about the back of the van with a socket wrench, removing 2 rows of seats. These, we stored in my lockup in Watford when we went to fetch JJ’s guitars and amps, and my drums.

After that, I dashed back to watch the Formula 1 racing with my brother, while JJ did his email. Later that evening, John Graveling, the promoter for a number of our gigs, came up with his wife and took us all out to dinner at the local Indian restaurant…. Curry Garden, Berkhamsted, Herts – to be recommended – highly!
