Flight from Atlanta at 1.15pm. Took off late, arrived late, our bus fetched us from the airport, and by the time we arrived at the gig, Elton was already there.The set looks amazing. It is a tribute to Gianni Versace, and I think he would be proud of it. The new kit looks fabulous on the riser. It was tough sound checking, though.Getting used to a big venue again. I don’t know how many people this holds, but it has got to be in the 15-20 thousand range. Sadly the sound is atrocious. It reverberates round the hall for
several seconds.The gig was quite tough. Not because of the audience – they were fabulous – but we all had problems with the sound… and I had a couple of teething problems with the kit. Bits falling of etc… I’m also waiting a shipment of new heads, and the ones on the kit are well past their best… In fact at the end of the gig they were unplayable.
After the concert, we boarded the bus. We’re on a bus for quite a few trips this time. It’s almost impossible to get connecting flights between some of these towns. Tonight it’s a 5 hour drive to Virginia Beach. After a bite to eat, and a movie, I was ready to get into my bunk.I slept fitfully until we arrived at the hotel, at around 5.30am. After getting my key, and baggage, I got to my room, and crawled back into bed.
