Drive to Des Moines. Well, it’s possible I heard the “Phantom Cleaner” last night, but it’s more likely that it was someone coming back to their room late and using the shower!! The drive to Des Moines took about 3 hours. The Embassy Suites Hotel we’re staying in tonight is not downtown. This meant that a bunch of us (JJ, John Mahon, Guy, Bob and I) had to take the shuttle bus into town for a bite to eat. We ended up at a pasta restaurant, where they served us some “not-very-good” pasta. By the time we came back out, the skies had opened, and there was a full-blown thunderstorm in progress. So we called the shuttle bus back to pick us up.I had a swim down in the pool, which is really tiny (and not very clean), and tried to use the rowing machine in the “gym”. It was out of order. So I retired to my room, and watched TV… At about 8pm, I ordered room service.Somehow they managed to ruin a Hamburger… this most American of food items was inedible! I’m not too happy about this place. Watched the 5th game of the World Series… Cleveland lost. They now need to win BOTH games in Florida! Some chance!
