Columbia, South Carolina

We boarded the bus around 4pm, for the 2 hour trip to Columbia. The Interstate must’ve been the straightest road I’ve ever seen. I think it ran straight for the entire trip… I certainly don’t recall the bus turning either way.
The Carolina Coliseum, Columbia… another huge arena. Another crazy audience… Just before we went on stage, we watched the Cleveland Indians beat the Orioles to get to the World Series… the final pitch was so close to the batter, he had to dodge it to avoid being hit, and yet the umpire called it a strike! Elton mentioned it on stage tonight. No doubt we’ll get slammed for that. But I have to say, he was right. And we were all gunning for the Indians, but to win the game on a suspect call is wrong. Even a couple of the Indians were confused about the call…
After the show, we were back on the bus for the drive to Charleston, West Virginia. Long drive… 6-7 hours. I was in bed by 2am, exhausted. I slept fitfully until we arrived at around 6am, then I fell off the bus, staggered to my room, and fell back into bed….
