Conan O’Brien show. The jet lag has really got to me this time. And yet I was so fit prior to coming out here. It must be the residue of the ‘flu bug I picked up last week. The pick up is at 2pm today, so I was able to get some breakfast at the Star Diner opposite the hotel (why pay $35 for breakfast when you can pay $9?). By the time we arrived at the Rockefeller Center, home of NBC, New York, I was starting to feel vaguely human. Compared to the easy, laid-back method of operating in Burbank, this was manic, and they were running very late. So we didn’t have a chance to
soundcheck properly before Elton arrived – fresh from the Rosie O’Donnell show. Boy, he’s been doing the rounds. He was in Chicago for Oprah yesterday. Halfway through the line-check, he appeared on stage and joined in.Once again, Elton was brilliant, eclipsing comedian, Tim Meadows, during the interview, and singing and playing like a maniac. If I was a comic due to appear on a show that Elton was on, I would back out gracefully. No mean feat when a singer outdoes a comic at his own game. After the show, Davey, Bob, Guy and I went down to BICE’s restaurant for dinner, and sat amongst the stockbrokers and advertising executives, all still in their work suits. We really stuck out like a sore thumb!I know I’ve said this before, but I do plan to sleep well tonight. I reckon it’s about time my body clock adjusted to this time zone.
